Backhoe hi rails

Canadian_digger ยท 2017-02-18 16:33

Built myself a set of removable hi-rails for my backhoe for driving down the rail. To use them you simply curl the bucket back and it will lift the front off the ground. And the rear wheels ride on the rail. To remove them you pull one pin and they slide out just like a trailer hitch receiver.

Looks pretty cool! I gotta ask though, Do the rear wheels ever slide off the rails?

Going forward is no problem. Going backwards you can't go very far before they slide off.

How come you didn't just weld them to the bucket?

This way they can still be use with forks to haul ties down the tracks.

I will say that's new on me, never seen a backhoe carry ties that way.
