Berco Track Chain

Tyler Cohrs · 2025-09-18 20:39

Looking to repair a damaged track link/chain section on a Deere 670G machine. Has a Berco chain and Ive found the following numbers on it: KM429 & KM430. Is it normal to have 2 different numbers like that? Is there a left and right side to it?

From what I understand, chains don't have a left or right side; you just need to distinguish between the front and back sides.

Did you find those numbers by just looking at the links on the outside of both track chains.? If so then try looking on the inside of both chains as well. Because the links are cranked they are left & right handed and #3 in the illustration below will be a different part number to #5. So provided the chains are installed correctly (not backwards in other words) you should find the same number on the outside of the LH track and the inside of the RH track and vice versa.

Pretty sure that’s how (as Nige) describes the Berco chains on our dozer are labelled. I have some photos (somewhere…..)
