Blade pin bushing question

farmerdave217 ยท 2009-06-10 21:02

Blade pin zert won't take grease on my TD7H. Replacing the zert & cleaning did not work. I now conclude the next possibility is that the bushing has rotated. Should I try to drill it or pull the pin and replace the bushing?

I doubt the bushing has turned, unless you got a slap worn out bushing and bushing boss. In that case, grease ain't gonna make much matter. It's probably dirt in the holes in the bushing. Bushings usually have to holes in the on opposite sides of the bushings and a groove around the outside perimiter of the bushing to allow grease to travel to the holes to lube the pin. Some folks line up one of the holes in the bushing with the zerk hole. But that only enters grease through that hole and probably none to the other hole on the other side. I install bushings with the two holes 90 degrees from the zerk hole to allow grease to travel an equal distance to bushing holes to lube pin a two points. A little lack of grease, get a little dirt between pin and bushing, and the pin crams the dirt in the holes, then it's good luck getting it out. Most times you have to pull the pin, pick the dirt from the holes. There are times the dirt clogs the holes and grease groove so tight that only bushing removal will facilitate removal of the dirt.

Depending how hard it is to get the pin out removing it is the sure way but ive also taken a portapower and adapt to the greese hole that high psi oil will push out what ever is blocking it. somtimes.

ATCOEQUIP has it dead on. Take it apart and clean it up you will be good to go.
