hello everyone, hope everyone is well and ready for xmas. anyway i'm new to the site and equipment i have a cat skid steer 252b2 that wont start because of the cold and i dont know wher the block heater is if anyone could help i would appreciate it, ty.
A serial # will help the cat guru's to get you a full schematic.
The block heater is an Attachment, an optional extra in other words. To know whether or not your particular machine was actually built with one requires the machine Serial Number.
According to: https://phillipsandtemro.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/2017-Zerostart-Temro-Web-Catalog.pdf if it's a 3034 engine the plug is installed in the "back of the head", that would be the cylinder head , in case one has been added since the factory. Usually they would be a core plug or bolted on plate or threaded plug lower on the water jacket on the side of the block, if there's room to get there.
It might be easier to add a "tank type" heater. They are aftermarket and splice into the bypass hose. Ed
What, you don't like a block heater in the back of the head?
I assume an SCP-prefix machine with S/N above 4600.? This is what the block heater installation looks like.
Others might not agree but I always preferred the ones like Nige shows in the post above. And not sure if that is the front of the head or the back of the head, guess it depends on your point of view. I personally always considered the back of an engine to be the flywheel end. Well except things like motorcycles, small engines like chain saws and lawn mowers!
In this case for me it’s the front of the engine (more specifically the front LH corner), back of the machine.
Agree!
