Occasionally during operation while carrying logs in my grapple bucket the grapple arms will open by them selves. Sometimes i can close them backup with the switch. Other times they stay open and i am forced to lift the seat bar and reset hydraulics. Thoughts? Weak auxillary solenoid? I am mechanically inclined but pretty green when it comes to skid steers.
open by themselves? thats a new one on me... :beatsme are you getting a fault code when this happens? :drinkup
I know it seems crazy. We process firewood almost year round and the 863 is used exclusively for carrying logs from our stacks over to cut up and split into pieces. We hold the logs with the grapple bucket while we saw the logs up. Now this has been happening more recently when i am sawing and my operator is sitting in the cab touching no controls. Occasionallly the arms will just open up on their own. It doesn't happen all the time. Its almost like a dump valve released alll pressure to the auxillary hyd.
is anything else "strange" happening? does the thumb toggle on the handle feel funny? loose? check the harness connector at the bottom of the handle for moisture, corrosion or oil. same thing with the aux solenoid connectors. i could see one of the coils getting hot and shutting off, but that should throw a fault code. the only time the coils are energized is when the switch is moved. the fact that it's opening by itself has got me wondering.... perhaps you have 2 problems happening at the same time.. a bad handle or coil AND a broken aux spool centering spring..... :beatsme :drinkup
Could be the Spirit fooling around with your skid buttons.
I will pull the handle apart tomorrow and take a look at that as well as the harness. i'll let you know once i get it apart.
FYI the handle is sold as an assembly, no serviceable parts inside.... :drinkup
