Bobcat 864 ‘spool lock solenoid open circuit’

i have a bobcat 864 that has begun to act strangely. if you don't have the lap bar down when you turn the key on, none of the arm or bucket controls will function when you start it. it will run fine as long as the bar is down when you turn the key on but if you lift it to get out it locks up again. you then have to the turn the key off and start over. the code that comes up is "spool lock solenoid open circuit' and i replaced both of them today with no luck. i have chased almost every wire on this machine thinking something got pinched in a recent engine swap, but found nothing. any advice on where to go from here would be much appreciated. feel free to let me know if i haven't explained myself very well or if you need some more information. thanks.

You're certain the code isn't referring to loader lift/tilt lockout solenoid valve circuit? That's a different solenoid than the spool lock solenoids. Aside from that, you may have a problem in the wiring harness that's causing the ECU to get incorrect resistance readings on power up on that circuit, or your ECU is faulty. I don't know of a way to test the ECU, and I certainly would not recommend replacing it unless it's determined for certain that it's faulty.

Thanks for you reply...I just got back to the shop and checked again...18-07. My book says spool lock solenoid open circuit. It just seems so odd that it runs fine as long as the bar is down. I was starting to think computer. This is the second one to do down if so. Thanks again and please let me know if you think of anything else to try
