I've got a 873 I've owned for a decade, great machine and has giving me no reasons to lie awake at night, until now. She's in my garage up against a wall and leaking oil down the inside of the left rear wheel. I can't get to the wheel. I guessing a axle seal, but thought I'd ask here before I move her. Anyone got any ideas/suggestions before I dig into it?
if the only place you see oil is on the inside of the wheel, it's probably an axle seal but... they dont leak for no reason, could be one of these problems loose/bad bearings chaincase overfilling jack it up, leave the tire on, and see if you have any movement, up/down or in and out. you'll have to use some leverage and a little grunting, you'll be fighting the weight of the tire/wheel.
