I found a Bobcat 751 for $4000 OBO about an hour and a half form were I live. I really dont know anything about it but it looks like a nice machine, it needs an engine though. Would this be something worth looking at and if the machine is in good condition possibly even buying it? And how hard is it to replace an engine in a machine like this, cost, ect? put an engine in a 773 bobcat last spring the total bill was around $5400. Got the engine from an aftermarket rebuilder for around $3700. Wasn't to bad to replace as I remember.
engine rebuilders tehy are out of nebraska i think 1 year warranty on the engine bobcat has the same warranty also and they are jsut cores they rebuilt as far as pulling them pull the battery exhaust off wiring harness disconnect the cooling system hoses fuel system hoses remove the drive belt and flywheel their are ten bolts or so in the cover behind the flywheel they are a 15mm and a 17 mm on that i belive socket sizes go under the hydrstat fromt he front remove the 4 bolts on the left side of the engine if you are looking at it from the front and the 2 half in bolts in the back holding the motor then sling on a hoist or as we use a mini and pull out the book says to remove the engine and hydrstat as an assembly which is 4 bolts 10 to 12 hoses and the wiring harness but it sucks because you have to watch out for the fuel sender as you will break it and you have to run a strap to the hydrostat fromt he back to support it while you pull the engine it should take about a day out and in if you have done before other wise about 2 days to day 1/2 depending on how mechanical you are and air tools are very nice also put a new thermostat in whick should come with the reman also while the engine is out if the pick up tube is on the back behind the hydrostat replace it then even if it doesn;t need it it will save you time and head ach in the futre i think on those though its on teh front of the tank infront of the hydrostat
Look here. They often have DEALS on diesel engines. http://www.surpluscenter.com/sort.asp?UID=2008112423414224&catname=engines&keyword=NED1
Can anyone tell me if the Peugeot can be switched to a Kubota with-out opening a big can of worm's.Looking at a blown 751 fixer also.
they made a conversion kit it swapps the engine mounts pulleys and something else pull the hysrostat and motor to do it never done one my self but the kubota is a better engine in them though
