Hey guys I have a question for a friend of mine, He has a bobcat, and when it gets warmed up it just stops moving. I am not sure on the loader, but the wheels stop moving. I am thinking it is the pump or pumps. It does not have the numbers on it, but he thinks it is a 743. I was able to find a plate on it that may be the serial or model number. when standing behind it looking at it on the left side sort of up on top of the engine compartment door and on the left loader arm is where i found it and the number is 5006-M-12999 . is there a way or website that i can try to find out what it is exactly? Ive been looking at parts at a few sites but not positive what it is exactly. If there is a place to look on the machine to find the proper number that says what it is I would appreciate your input. Thanks in advance Mike
model number should be on the same plate :drinkup
Thanks for the reply crewchief the plate is faded away from visibility, the only way i got those numbers is that they are engraved into the tag.
lets see if we can narrow it down a little. make of engine 2, 3, or 4 cylinder, gas or diesel ? mechanical fuel shutoff, with a cable or electric ? wheels, 6 lug or 8 lug ? are there 2 big coil springs on the back of the cab, or does it have struts on the side of the cab? :drinkup
Thanks for the input crewchief, i went back today and looked better and it is a 731, it was almost dark when there last time. Mike
ok that helps. you're probably looking at pumps and motors. i'd pull the motors 1st to see what they look like. most likely you'll find some internal leakage, as the oil warms up, it thins out, the charge pressure drops. and the leakage becomes bad to the point where the motor wont drive. :drinkup
Wow you must have had a similar experience, I personally have not experienced it with this machine, he said that it just stops going after it gets warmed up. That being said, are these hard to rebuild? expensive? I do not know very much about these skidsteers and am thinking it has 2 drive pump motors and 1 hydro pump? I thank you for your input and experience on this old girl Mike
the 30 series machine hydrostats were never really anything to write home about, it was early in the development of bobcat hydrostatic drives. it's been 10 years or so since i had any of them apart, the last pumps and motoros i tore guy for a riend of mine were so badly mangled, he ended up replacing both motors and the pumps/ they can be rebuilt, all depneds on how bad they really are. you're correct, 2 drive motors pump assembly has 2 hydrostatic pumps, charge pump, and a hyd (implement) pump. pull the filter, dump the contents into a clean container, check for debris, brass or steel, i'd bet you'll find quite a bit of brass suspended in the oil.. i've had waaayyyy too much experience.. 28 years at const eq dealerships :drinkup
psst...mikey1...he's a glutton for punishment
naw i'm just too stupid to be a brain surgeon... or should i say "would you like fries with that?" :drinkup
