This might sound like a dumb question. I just picked up an S185. On the right side control where the aux hydraulic controls are, there is a high/low switch. I know this is for controlling the two travel speeds because my neighbor's T190 has the same thing. When I switch back and forth nothing happens. My question is, is my machine equipped with the 2 speed option and it is just not working? Or, does it not have this option and bobcat just puts the same controls and switches in all machines regardless of whether or not they have that option? My machine didn't have any information with it about what options it is equipped with. Any help would be appreciated.
I believe that bobcat did not make 2 speed an option on the s185, only on the 'larger frame' machines. They used the same handle on most of the machines, even without 2 speed.
Unless your bobcat has the words "2 speed" lettered on it you don't have the two speed option. Yes bobcat puts those buttons in each machine even if you don't have that option. The S185 is available with the 2 speed option too, at least in the last couple of years anyway. It wasn't always available.
Have you tried looking at Bobcat's site? It has been a while but was looking at Bobcat excavator while back and it seemed their site did a good job on having specs on most if not all models they had sold.
also depending on the model you should look at your lock outs menu in your display.
later k series is when 2 speed came out on the 185 205 series of machines all machines have them another way to tell is pop the cab look at the center chain case cove it either has a brake coil on it or an aluminum block for the two speed option is another way to tell
