bobcat s205 heater problems

warneroutdoors ยท 2014-12-16 10:55

Hi All i have a s205 with heater problems, i replaced these, blower switch, heater relay, blower motor and toned out the harness and everything seems fine there,... i have power to the relay but no power to anything else. no power at switch or motor... i am guessing that something has to trigger the relay to send power out to the other things but what triggers it(what wire and from where) i have a manual on order but its going to take a week or 2 to get and the boys want heat in the cab go figure (haha) but this is Minnesota in winter so i guess i have to fix it any help would be great Tony

Well, you need power to the switch for starters. That's the most obvious place to start until somebody comes along that knows what burns out where on those. Did you double check all the fuses? and check that the fuse socket for the heater is getting power? The "ignition" switch is putting out power to other accessories?

yes i checked all the fuses and replaced the switch, blower motor, and relay... i have power to the relay but no place else ... guess what i need to know is where does the power come from to the switch and motor

I'm not a bobcat guy, and don't have any specific info. But... Almost by definition, the power to the motor comes from the relay, you can verify the motor and relay work by supplying voltage to the relay "activation" terminal. I'm assuming that the relay and blower work because obviously the switch isn't working now if it's not getting any voltage. The power that goes to the heater switch (and then to activate the relay and blower) comes from the key switch, possibly through an accessory relay. If there are other accessories that work, then I'd try to find the wire between the relay(or key switch) and the heater switch.

    ok thanks for your help

It depends on your serial number if this info is accurate for your machine. Pull the heat/ac relay out. Turn on ignition, no need to start engine. Test terminal 30 of relay socket (not the relay itself, the socket it plugs in to). 30 should be hot, if not back up and find out why. If it's hot, make a jumper wire with flat spade terminals, use jumper to connect terminal 30 to terminal 87 of socket. Check wire 1000 at heater switch to see if it's hot. If wire 1000 isn't hot, problem in harness between relay socket and heat blower motor switch. Possibility a problem with pin/socket connection at C408 harness connector that connects lower frame harness to cab harness, pin #21.

well found the problem, someone wired a power adapter into the main harness for a beacon on top of the cab and had it fused. that is where the switch and motor got its power from. the way the heater harness was could not tell that it got power from the main harness. removed the adapter reconnected the wire the way they are supposed to be and everything works fine. thanks for all your help guys, Willie thanks for the pics i am going to hold onto them i have 3 bobcats total and might need them in the future.
