My neighbor had a JD 450 (old one) sitting in back of his garage for the past 4 years and I asked him if it ran and was it for sale. He said it ran good when parked and that all he wanted was scrap price for it . So I ran home and hit my "stash" and ran back and gave him a few hundred more than scrap for it and a jug of homemade hard cider.. He threw some fuel in it yesterday, Jumped it and she fired right up The bottom is decent, Has a 6 way blade and the engine sounds good. It needs some steering work on the right side and a whole bunch of TLC fixing things that were done by guys that should never have been allowed to have a tool in their hands. So, for $2,000 I have a 450 dozer thats 1/4 mile down the road. My fleet is growing Ford 4500 TLB Austin Western A410 12 ton crane 955L loader 215 excavator Case 484 forklift My wife says that our retirement portfolio is directly proportional to scrap prices :yup
Good luck with the 450. I had a 455 with 4 in 1 and a tree shear for many years. Other than that goofy 2 piece steel hydraulic return line in the belly pan popping the hose clamp style clamped connection twice it was a great machine. Replaced the clamped return line with a one piece hydraulic hose and the problem went away.
