Broken Fitting, coupler?

TomWei · 2021-12-30 16:49

Buried mini ex and after pulling out found this snap between 1 and 2 in the specs. its the blade lines and id rather not pull apart in field. think cat would have male to male coupling, would that work to hold oil while walking back to shop?

Cat might, or a hydraulic shop should, or you could order one. Looks like a flat face o ring seal, common enough. Discounthydraulichose has a thread guide that you can identify fittings if you have a caliper and thread gauge. You can measure threads with a caliper, but it's easier with a thread gauge.

That is an O Ring Face Seal fitting. Is the 90 degree fitting that threads into the cylinder snapped off, or is the hose end fitting compromised?

o ring was on hose side. snapped where it screws into cylinder. havent backed out and just want it to float so i can back it out of field. think just a fitting snapped. planning on going to cat tomorrow am to get a male to male hose or coupler. will they have an o ring to o ring hose? and be open in on new years eve? thanks

Any hydraulic shop should have that fitting. I don't typically use teflon tape but an emergency repair is a lot less messy in the field with it than pipe dope. Take the broken end with you. The end that threads into the cylinder end or barrel would be best removed and taken also, then wrap a rag or something around the hole to keep dirt out.

The end in the cylinder should be a straight thread o-ring boss. Bob

The part broken is a -6 ORFS to -6 STOR 45° fitting. Part number 202-3628, which is just a 6V-9001, but includes the two oRings. From the parts manual, it appears to thread into another adapter to join to the cylinder port.

Take both hoses loose from the cylinder and plug them, jack the blade up with a comealong hoist to get the blade off the ground, walk it back to the shop. Then deal with the repair.

ended up just waiting for cat to reopen. went to local shop and hose guy was out. went through fittings bins but couldnt find caps with right threads. ill prob try and order some sets online once i figure out what sizes cat uses. planning on walking it out but its down to 10 and it took a while for block heater to arrive. ill prob drop it in before or wait until it gets when i was looking for more leaks i found diesel leaking out on engine. ill make another post but this wasnt happening before i beached her.
