Broken valve spring to run or not to run that is the question!?

D8k broken valve spring can hear it clicking away. Took the valve cover off and sure enough the inside spring on number 3 intake valve is broken. I have quite a number of days left on this job I am doing and don't really want to take it apart until the jobs done. What do you guys think? Will it break all together and cause a massive explosion in number 3 hole if I keep running her or will it hang in there? Any past experience with such a thing would be appreciated haha thanks

Shut it down. It will drop. Makes a simple job into a really big one.

Don't run it. You'll make an easy fix into a huge job if you continue to run it.....

Can only go downhill if you continue to run it. Pull injector on that cylinder, get it on compression stroke, stick an air nozzle in injector hole, seal it best you can, put compressed air in cylinder, remove valve spring with spring compressor, fit new spring, and carry on with no farther carnage.

Ya I suppose your all right. I forgot about the compressed air trick was thinking this was a head removal job... Again. Thing is that is a brand new aftermarket head. Burnt a valve in 300 hours just got it all back together run another few weeks and now this. Total junk. Lesson learnt.

Can you still use a top mount spring compressor with a dual spring system?

Another trick we used to use with the race cars was to put string into the bore and then hand bar the engine over until the valve is supported. Change the spring and then pull the string out. Replace your rockers and injector and you are ready to fire up

Motorcycle bungee cord works well too.
