There were bubbles in the oil after running the engine directly after a change. I'm assuming I overfilled it a bit. I drained some off, but should I drain all of it and just add new oil?
No.
Let it sit overnight and then drain it down to the proper level on the dipstick.
If you didn't prefill the filter air is pushed by the pump through the system, what Marshall said above.
