Case 1105D Transmission Gauge

AU.CASE ยท 2010-05-11 00:26

Hi all, My favourite machine has a bad habit of smashing the transmission pressure gauge. When I bought it the gauge was new and pressure down so I rebuilt the transmission pump and now have full normal pressure using a Case TCH equivalent Mobil product. The gauge takes a towelling [hammering] in use with control pressure changes, now the needle has a small bend and it 'flickers' when the oil is cool / cold smoothing out a bit later when temperatures are normal. A local Case trained mechanic told me to change the gauge before worrying about the transmission regulator. Anyone any ideas too? Here are my machines, the great little D750 was sold a long time ago to a vineyard developer for LGP post driving, also in the same set is me making a Tree Pusher for the 1150D and at a bush fire that was loose on our property too.

There could be a few things to check here 1) Is transmission pressure OK ? Pressure will always be high while oil is cold & revs are high - as long as it is within spec at operating temp. - but needles don't normally get bent with correct pressures........ 2) Is there any cavitation happening - this often rattles gauges to pieces 3) Modulator may need adjustment 4) There is a filter under the fitting on the trans. control valve where the hose to gauge is connected - may not be there 5) If all the above is OK & still having trouble - you can connect gauge to a port on convertor instead of control valve & it will take the pulsing of oil between shifts away

Cheers and thanks for the tips, next time I'm under the floor I'll take it through. Have a small contract to fill first, 1Km fence-line in Blue Sandstone, large deep round rock on steep ground plus the neighbour doesn't like rock fees, cuts my tracks about especially if it turns dry, which fortunately 250Km inland we are finally ok for moisture.
