Neighbor is selling his 1150B as is but it needs a new track adjuster. Is this a repair that can be done by myself and what does it entail, is it costly, hard to get parts?? How much would a person take off the price?
Track adjuster The seal kit can be picked up for around $70.00, the adjuster assembly, rod/inner tube/seals around $500.00. The yoke runs $275.00 if it needs it, and the recoil spring and inner tube could take it over $1500.00- $2000.00. You need to look at the wear in the track group, worn rollers, carriers, sprockets, idlers/ idler bearing, rails, pin and bushings all add up to the adjustment. A weak or broken recoil spring could be an issue also. You should post some pics of that side to help use give you some thoughts. The adjuster may be the least of your issues. You may need a wrench to help you out with a torch and welder along with a good equipped service truck. You will need to knock out the master pin and brake the track, slide the idler off with the yoke and then repair what is needed on the adjuster. Most will hold firm on the price of what they are asking, it is a used machine, with age and they will bring the same amount fixed or not to someone that just needs a cheap dozer and is not working it full time. Most of B's have had the suspension welded and blocked up, they have timed shafts and links to hold the front end up, unlike the newer C with the equalizer beam under them. Once again, pics would help for thoughts and more info, and you did not say if it's a loader or dozer.
