topcutsplus ยท 2013-02-27 19:50

I have a 1991 case 1845c with auxiliary hydro. The bucket lifts very slowly but works fine if I apply the aux. Foot pedal. I replaced the aux. Control valve and still nothing. Please help

Welcome to HEF topcutplus! :drinkup The problem you have is most likely to be that the lift spool at the loader control valve is not getting enough stroke or push. 1) Check that the cabin has not moved forward, or that it is ALL the way back. A little prybar at the front between the cab & chassis works well to get it back properly. 2) If cabin is in it's proper location - adjust the lift linkage at the spool. - Remove the clevis pin & lengthen the linkage by turning the clevis a couple of turns. They don't normally go out of adjustment, so if you need to do this there is a reason - inspect the linkages & pivot points. Problem most likely to be #1

Any chance one of the pumps is bad?

Any chance one of the pumps is bad? Keep in mind if I push the pedal for auxiliary hydro the bucket lifts fine...

Not likely if it seems to work OK when relief pressure has been reached with the aux operation.

To tilt the bucket it is fine but to raise it, its very slow but if I apply the auxiliary foot pedal it will raise like it should. I replaced the valve because the local dealer said the auxiliary valve wasn't closing all the way robbing power. But it still does it.

Check the cab & the linkage - seen it before......costs you $0.00 only a little time

OK I will get back to you tomorrow but why would it raise fine and fast when I apply auxiliary hydros

I could try to explain it, But that's what they do. If it does fix it, I would certainly be having a chat with your 'advisor' at the dealership. The Aux valve is plumbed in AFTER the main loader control valve using power beyond.

Still did not fix is it possible that someone could have mixed hydro lines up and didn't put them where they ho or s bad pump motor?

If the lift speed is 'normal' while using the aux, you have - 1) enough oil flow 2) all hoses hooked up correctly Satisfy my curiousity please, my mental telepathy is a little cloudy today - Has this problem been one all the time you have owned this machine or has it recently been noticed? Just to be 100% sure - You do have hand controls? Do the controls feel normal? Not too sloppy in the neutral position? Both feel the same? Does the loader creep down if you hold a load in it? Does the 'float' feature work? You say "still did not fix" - what happened? Were the bolts tight/loose? What did you actually do? Did you loosen the 4 cabin mount bolts & then try to force it back on the stops? Did you play with the lift linkage adjustment? How much? RE - 'mix the hydro lines'? - Has something been worked on recently? Has the cabin been slid forward for a repair/service? With the help of someone, Can you measure & compare the amount of movement in the lift & tilt control spools - are they the same? - the spool only need to be out by 2 or 3mm for the lift not to work properley. You may need to check the main relief pressure, Do you have a gauge & fittings to test 2500psi (3000 - 5000 psi gauge req) at the T fitting at the hyd pump? Sorry, we are trying to fix machinery over the internet - information is required :drinkup

I am in total agreement with alrman, verify full stroke of the lift spool. The linkages can bend at the bends in the levers and keep the spool from stroking, The reason that the aux inflences it is that with the aux engaged that forces the oil over relief and that hi pressure oil is going into your lift circuit. That service man that blamed the aux valve simply dont have a clue and just don't get it. Forget the aux circuit and concentrate on the main control, particularily spool stroke.

1845c left side weak The bucket would barely lift so I checked The main pump pressure had 1600 psi so we adjusted it back up yo 2500 psi which is what its supposed to be and that fixed the lift problem but I still have a weak left side, Hey topcutplus, glad to hear you got your hydraulics sorted out. :thumbsup I copied & pasted part of your other thread here, as it answers the original problem you were seeking help for - It's always a good idea, to tell us what resolved your problem as it will help countless others looking for answers in the future. If the main relief pressure was low ..... the tilt & crowd speed & power would have been down as well :beatsme - is there now a noticable difference with them? There are a number of different control valves in the 1845C - What type of main relief did you have? Does it look like the one in the pic or was it a full hex shaped body? Seems wierd it was that far down & it responded to adjustment. Had the tamper proof dome cover already been removed? Maybe someone had been playing with it already & had it adjusted wrong?? :drinkup

Yes that's what the valve looks like and I'm not sure I paid a guy to mess with it but will not take it back to him he has a drinking problem. Everything is good on it right now other then the left side being weaker then the right. Does this sound like a wheel motor?

This weak drive issue needs a little exploration but in general if both forward and reverse are weak it indicates a problem within the rotating groups, if it is weak in one direction only it could be a charge or Hi pressure relief valve leakage problem. You could get some caps and cap the drive lines off and see how it acts without the motor in circuit, it should load the engine hard without much lever movement. Is there evidence that a drive hose could have been changed and dirt introduced into the system, this is very common and has been covered here at length in previous years.

Rebuilt drive motor it was fine, plugged hoses and it didn't bog down much so I'm guessing its a relief valve that controls that side?
