I borrowed this machine from friend , have a question at idle the TC psi is 40 or so at wide open throttle it goes to 100psi is this normal? also you can hear a hydraulic buzz at WOT,

pressure gauge Your converter pressure should be 35-55 psi and the trans pressure should be around 225-260 on the older units. You don't have a lot of history on the machine as far as servicing. I would change the trans filter and screen, tighten all clamps on the suction side, and tube nuts. The pressure gauge should also be checked against a known working gauge also or replaced.

Would you happen to have a manual or pages on this ? Location of filter and screen?

Most had a charge pump mounted on the rt side of the engine with the strainer filter mounted at the bell housing above the starter. The trans filter early units rt side area of the hyd controls, later on the left side, or under the lt hand floor. The filter has a screw in end cap with a 1 1/2 socket head i seem to think. It was not uncommon to have to use a impact gun to get them loose. The strainer can be washed out but you need a new seal. The trans filter will have a spring/bypass/element under the filter top. I would park it on two RR ties just in case you need to remove a belly pan to get to some of the clamps while dealing with the suction lines if needed.

Ok thank you , that is next weekends project, I went online to case parts and saw what you mean oring and strainers, making sure they have the stuff, thanks !! When removing filter or strainer will i just loose some fluids or does it keep running out? On the trans it call for TCH, seems some debate over using that verse the case hy guard. any thoughts? Can you explain the difference between the two? "Your converter pressure should be 35-55 psi and the trans pressure should be around 225-260 on the older units"

A good lube oil that meets the trans/converter/hyd spec. The oil can be hy guard from deere, a good 303 lube, tch/hytran from case, tractor supply, your oil supplier local. It must be a tch fluid and not a straight hyd oil because of the additives. Both the main filter and strainer are up high with the trans sitting low, the system holds around 32 qts. On your machine the pressures are as stated, I deal with many series 450/450B/450C with changes and upgrades. The 450B and C had a 25-60 psi and a main pressure 250-310 psi. Most newer machines did not have a gauge that showed the converter out regulator pressures in the lower range (you have to hookup your gauges or flow meter to see it) The higher pressure is the engaging of the clutch packs and forward/reverse pressures, with most having a gauge with a red/yellow/green instead of numbers that you can read. You should have a 1/8 pipe fitting in the main filter housing top or under the seat at the control valve to read these pressures if it's not on the dash.
