I purchased a 1973 case 450D with a model 33 backhoe attachment.. It is a great machine but I have been thinking about taking off the back of attachment so I can rebuild the backhoe control valve. I want to be able to use the machine and do some light digging. How would it balance with nothing on the back end? Any safety concerns other than forward tipping? Does anyone have a counterweight available in salvage or are there possibly other options? Thanks!
Without the rear counterweight (1650 LBS) I doubt you could push much with it due to a lack of traction. If the grouser bars have much wear on them that would make it even worse.
