Hello Everyone, New to the forum as well as a new dozer owner. Picked up a 1975 Case 450 Dozer, 6 way blade. Did some initial work to it, minor repairs needed etc... After a few hours of use it became apparent that it was tracking off to the right and there was contact happening on the sides of the chain on the right side. Closer inspection reveals that someone in the past has done a poor repair job of the idler wheel. It normally has a shaft with bushing and seals, which are held in place by the side brackets. It appears someone has modified the side brackets and possible installed bearings and a different shaft. I am guessing this, as we have not disassembled anything yet, but there has been a grease fitting added on the shaft. Idler is very sloppy, so either bearings are gone, shaft is worn/bent, or the idler itself is damaged. It has been like this for a long time as the idler raised portion is worn approx a half inch on the inside so the chain is now sloppy on the idler. Long story short I am looking for a used, or a part source for an aftermarket idler assembly as a worst case senario when we take this apart. I have priced Case parts and the parts are available but as usual pricey. Does anyone have a source for such a part ? Thanks Jeff Ontario, Canada
