Recently replaced chain, with pads, noticed idler has lots of play on shaft. What are the idler guides [looks like steel plates with a couple holes] I see for sale? What year is [series 3] case 455c?
? is. What would be the best fix for the idler repair, for nonproduction.
When you say lots of play it sounds like the bearings have been gone for quite a while and the shaft is probably shot along with the idler wheel... have you pulled it out of the frame yet? should be easy to tell if the whole thing is stuffed or not.
Both sides are shot along with shaft, did not take apart, but chances are slim shaft is still good. Guess I will have to replace idlers, shaft, and not sure what else. Hoping to get away with just replacing shaft and bearings, seals, and not idler.
