Just bought a 2013 Case 521D. Do these Loaders have a high and low speed range? There's no manual and it seems quite slow even though it has all kinds of power. What I read on line says top speed 38mph. Its more like 12-15
Hi Kevman, as far as I know the 521D should be equipped with ZF 4WG130 or so. With 4 speeds forward enabling around 38 kph , not mph. 12-15 mph would mean the machine misses 4th gear, or if 12 kph it would not even switch into 3rd. Please confirm it is a ZF 4WG??? I could possibly share a manual.
These dashes can be programmed to run in minimum gear and maximum gear. Here is how to set maximum gear.
These instructions are in owners manual.
There is a procedure to recalibrate trans clutch fill times also.
I'd only recalibrate if nec, especially since you are in Michigan. It takes a nice hot summer day to complete successfully usually we would block off radiator with cardboard or a heat shield blanket. . Transmission temperature has to be maintained at a certain temperature which can be difficult in cooler conditions.
The calibration of clutches is important at the very beginning of loader life. Done in CNH factory, then after 100 or 200 h (after break in oil change). Reason: There is a certain setting (not wear) of organic clutch layer. Later possibly after every 1000 h, but not really necessary. Necessary if you fit a new TCU or new clutch packs. There is no risk of damaging something w/o calibration, but shift comfort might be a bit worse.
