i dont have 1st or 2nd gear. my hoe is a 1973 case backhoe 580 b ck. i have 3rd and 4th and work great. removed shifter and the shaft will not say in place for the 1st and 2nd fork. everything looks good. im wondering IF maybe it has to do with the fork placement. maybe if not slip over the transmission just right it wont hold the 1st/2nd gear in place?????any help would be great
update: i visually checked through shifter hole and made sure forks were seated on the collars. everything looked great. if the problem is not with shifter but with the transmission what would i look for to see if 1st and 2nd gear is bad in transmission? gears look good.
