hi there i just bought a case 580 e, im after some hints or an idea about the power shuttle forward and reverse lever.it is in nuetral when its about a 3/4 of a inch below the nuetral slot on the steering colum. the power shuttle works fine but i want to have it in nuetral when the lever is in the slot.is there any adjustment underneath?i could only find a bit in the factory manual that you have to replace the detent ball and spring to fix problem in the power shuttle.i dont mind working on it because im mechanically minded and have a good range of tools.i want to service the power shuttle any way(new oil clean the screen etc). also do i need the crank factory turn tool to get the drain plug for the tourqe converter down the bottom or is there a trick you guys can pass on to me.the oil hasnt been changed in years so id like to do it asap. i like the ol girl it has 400hrs on a rebuilt long motor and i look forward to going over it and getting little things sorted.i got it for $16500 aus dollars so im happy to spend a bit on it. thankyou for any respone this is a great site.
Welcome to HEF meusy351! There is an adjustable rod down under the machine, You will see it attaching near the neutral cut out solenoid on the shuttle. Does sound a bit unusual to be out of adjustment by so much, make sure that the solenoid is done up tight.
gday alrman, thanks mate i appreciate the reply!il have a look under it this morning, somehow i jagged a day off work so il have plenty of time to play with it today. the ol farmer i bought it off said it came back like that after his son lent the hoe.il make sure the rod isnt bent as well. well its true never lend your wife or machine they never come back the same!! thanks once more mate il let you know how i go lat
If it is like a 580C, what I did was that I got under, pulled the inspection rubber plug and then I put a mark on the torque converter with a little paint. Then I just bumped the engine over a little at the time till the plug line up. Got it on the first time around.
thankyou fishfighter i was pondering on that one.i nearly sorted out the the shuttle shift thanks to alrman, did an adjustment i reckon one more go at it will do.the rod was a little bent!!
