Case 580k fuel problem

I have an 87' case 580k that just recently starting giving me some problems. It will start fine when cold and run strong. As soon as it heats up. About 15 to 20 minutes it will start to sputter and then die. It will restart with ether but once the ether runs out it dies so pretty sure its fuel. Once it cools off completely it will start back up again. The injection pump has been leaking from the top where the linkage goes in but that's been like that since I bought it. I already replaced the fuel filters and made sure the tank was topped off. Could this be lift pump or are there any inline or in tank filters that could be causing it? Hope its not injection pump....

There is usually an in-line filter either at the lift pump or under the machine, along the chassis. Could also be a restriction at the pick up inside the tank. If there is no inline filter, remove the delivery hose at the lift pump & blow a little compressed air back into the tank, this will clear the restriction. Reprime & try it......

Mine had the filter removed and ended up sucking crap into the lift pump. New pump and the proper diesel filter from Napa was $67. Ended my problems and has run strong since then.
