Fuel leaking from throttle rod on top of pump. What is best fix? A detailed manual on injector pump rebuild would be helpful. I have tackled all kinds of rebuild jobs. This one not yet.

The sk has a Bosch VE pump, right.?? U DO NOT want to touch that throttle lever.. The shaft and lever r splined and u have to get it back exactly right. On top of THAT.. the throttle bushing is worn out and HAS TO BE REPLACED.. it’s NOT a simple press out and press in deal.. U should save the aggravation and just pull it off..
If it’s got the DPA pump on it.. The top cover is held on by 2 acorn looking nuts.. THAT ONE is doable on the engine. (DIY)
In the parts manual, the pump is part number JR916523, Eng prior to PIN JJG0173468. The top cover appears to be removable with two locking nuts. Would we be able to take the cover to a injector tebuild shop and have them press a new bushing into the housing?
On the CAV DPA pump, there is no bushing.. only on the Bosch VE pump will u find a bushing.. The DPA pump is an all aluminum cover w a steel shaft running thru it. That shaft wears grooves into the aluminum and prevents the orings from sealing.. THATS A WORSE CASE SCENARIO.. The throttle and shut off levers have 2 orings on them for sealing.. Those orings get hard and leak.. U can buy a mini seal kit off eBay or Amazon for as little as 9.00 with free shipping.. Just type: CAV Throttle shaft leak Zin your search engine..
The Cav pump seals fine with o rings out of a kit, and reuse the gasket. They all leak when changed to ulsd, not all of them have been fixed yet. Make note of the holes the springs are in, easy to mix up, and it matters.
Thank you very much for the information. Saves me a ton of money. I kind of figured there were o rings that needed to be replaced. Thank you again!
