Case 580 super E Brake questions

Bruce eng ยท 2018-01-25 19:34

I'm rebuilding a brake master cylinder for a customers 580 super E. It is the latter model with wet brakes. What oil should i put back in the master cylinder? It appeared to have 68 hydraulic oil in it? Can you get to the slave cylinder from underneath to bleed the brakes, or am i going to have to pull the floor out of the cab? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to HEF @Bruce eng Yes 68 hyd oil is what should be used. You can bleed the slaves from under the machine, it's not a pleasant experience, but a hundred times better than lifting the floor in a 30+ yr old machine TIP - Did you replace the check valves located at the outlet fitting of the master cyl? If not, you may have some problems trying to bleed the system after install......

Thanks for the tip but the master cylinder is the later type with no check valve. Well the floor wasn't too bad to pull out, only took 45mins. Wish they had made it in smaller pieces though. The slave cylinder is shagged too, and i don't think the brakes have ever been adjusted
