Unfortunately after buying this on the cheap, the engine died and upon restart smoke was pouring out of valve cover and a knocking started. The engine died again and now won't start. It turns a little when trying to start, but the load is overheating starter and battery. Rocker arms all move up and down when trying to start. Any thoughts appreciated.
Gas or diesel engine?
Sometimes cheap ain’t easy. Does it have 1 battery or 2 and have you tried a jump pack. Make sure your cables are good and connections are solid. Generally some and heat are created by a bad connection. Will need to correct that before continuing. Good luck! Welcome to HEF!
It's diesel. Just has 1 battery. We've decided to pull the head to take a look, then more if needed. We bought ourselves a project. It's ok.
