Is it safe to put 80W90 GL-5 gear oil in the transaxle? The manual says GL-4, but that is an old spec. The GL-5 is newer but contains additives that attack yellow metals (bronze, brass, etc) which contain copper. Is there any yellow metal in the gear box for the transmission? I am guessing there is and GL-5 shouldn't be put in there. GL-4 is hard to find and relatively expensive. Anything labeled "spacer" or "thrust" in parts diagram has me thinking that it might be made of bronze or brass. EDIT: I think I found the answer: Don't put GL-5 in there. There is brass in the trans-axle. I called the manufacturer of the GL-5 and they said the additive will attack brass
