Hello everyone. we have a Case 580M ser1 that was working great then all of a sutton bamm want pull in far or rev. when you put it in forward or rev at an idol it will take gear. If you touch the gas just a little it stops pulling feel like it comes out of gear. as soon as it goes back to idol it will take gear again. I am thinking it's a torque converter. we changed the fluid and filter and cleaned the screen on it but this did not help anything. Still doing the same thing. This unit has the 4 speed (Carraro) transmission in it. What ya think it might be.
Welcome to HEF @G55 The modulator in the transmission control valve is retained with a couple of snap rings/circlips. They can break & cause the modulator to stick in the dump position. Have a look at this thread - It is an old thread about a 580L - but the valve is the same as yours - the thread goes on to discuss the transmission charge pump which turned out to be the problem....... which could also be your problem too. Check the valve first, if that is OK - then the charge pump, which will involve removing the transmission.
