Hello. The 580 was smoking out the blow-by quite a bit, big white cloud. Was slowly blowing more and more each time I used it. temp was staying at 180 or lower, and oil pressure was 70+ at start up, then hanging at 50 hot and under load, and 30 or so idling. One day it just would only pop as long as I held the starter button, but not keep running. have pulled the valve cover gasket, all motion in there seems normal. Timing seems to be about right. Fuel is squirting out at the #1 injector. Replaced the two fuel filters. Going to pull the injectors (plan on trying to use the rolling pry bar method) and check compression. Cut open the oil filter and did the vise test of the filter paper, some shiny bits but not a lot. At least it is by the barn and not at the end of the road where it quit.
When you get injectors out, good luck with that by the way, it should spin over pretty good with starter. You should have about 300psi cranking. Do a dry test and then use oil in each cyl. to see if compression increases. Also check your valve train for any problems there.
