Have a Case 830 gas engine, having problems with the running / runs good for a littlr while then appears to ice up just above the Carb any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
We had an old Case VAC that did the same thing when temps were right around 32° causing a rich fuel condition. Our solution was to make a small aluminum sheet deflector which would guide some of the exhaust manifold heat to the intake tube.
Yeah, it seems to happen to any carburated engine right above freezing and HIGH humidity. Kind of startling because you never expect it. Is this an ongoing problem?
yes it is an ongoing problem.
I thought about doing that (fly a lot of planes and knock on wood you always use carburetor heat when icing would occur. will try doing that Thanks will let know how works.
There will still be a brief period that the tube frosts up while it transitions through that 32° mark but once it warms up it's good to go.
