Case 850G blade move very slow and nothing on angle

macmac · 2023-03-30 20:16

Just bought a case 850G dozer. Was owned by city. story goes they replaced hydraulic pump after blade stopped working, then the new pump only worked for 2 weeks then blade quit again, they parked it, then sold it to me. The Blade lifts up very slowly, and goes down faster. It is a 6 way lade and will not tilt or angle. In process of getting it home to start on fixing it will keep u posted. . Just thought i would ask, incase there is a simple trick or something i may be over looking. Dozer starts and runs fine, and moves forward and reverse fine. Just problem with blade. any in put i would be grateful.

A couple things to check right away. Suction screen in tank and main relief in valve block. You mentioned that it had the hydraulic pump replaced. I wonder how good of a job they did cleaning out debris if the original pump had indeed failed? A good look at that screen/filter in the tank should let you know what you are dealing with. If the main relief has a chunk of garbage shoved in it, then oil will have a straight path to tank, giving you nearly no pressure. I’m sure you are going to want to do a full fluid and filter service on this machine when you get it home, so that would be a good time to open it up and get everything clean.

Hey Macmac welcome to HEF; If you have a way to check flow of pump then you should do that. One question I have is is the pump making a noise when machine is running? What I mean is does it sound like it's starving for oil? Like Acecadet said easy things to check is of course the suction screen and the filter. My thinking is that the city mech. didn't readjust the main relief valve after he replaced the pump and that it put to much pressure on new pump and gouged it out.
