Hi, Guys. I went through the forum and couldn't find anything relevant to my question. Upon using my 9020B at full throttle, the rpm started dipping under load. After about 15 minutes, the engine would quit, and I found I had to bleed the injectors to get it going again. Figured I had a fuel line leak somewhere. In short, checked the line from tank to fuel pump to filters and to injector pump. Even after the engine dies from lack of fuel, the filters remain full, indicating to me that the problem is downstream of the filters. Nevertheless, put on a new fuel pump. Found a slightly crimped line where it joins to the injector pump and replaced that line, as well as checking and cleaning the banjo connectors on the fuel line. Now the machine runs for 30 minutes under load before dying. Injectors are always empty, but upon bleeding them of air, the machine runs fine for another 30 minutes...more if I keep it idled. In addition I think the machine has a little less power than it used to have. I figure the only thing left is a fuel injector pump overhaul. Is there any way to confirm this? Or anything else to check?
Put a tee in the supply line at the injection pump and run a line into the cab with a low pressure gauge (0-10 psi) so you can see what the pressure is when it's losing power. Then work your way back to the tank, or start asking questions about the injection pump.
Have a Case 9010 with similar symtoms found there is a filter on the inlet to the water seperator, was full of rubber pieces cleaned up and running good now. Same thing on my Kobelco.
Water seperator. Haven't seen that...didn't know there was one. Hicks
Was by the fuel tank boom side a clear plastic with a drain on the bottom will try to get a picture.
Looking at picture in my manual, I see what you mean. Thanks, will check it out.
Thanks Delmer, I've rigged this up but haven't had a problem yet after cleaning up the connectors and water separated on the fuel tank and replaced the inline filter, at rsaint's helpful suggestion. Hicks
hi i have the same problem did you ever find out what is wrong
new to this site was wondering if anyone solved this problem because i have the same thanks
rsaint's suggestion in post #3 sounds like the answer. Did you try that?
yes ran a line from fuel pump to bottom of tank.i can start engine with the hand pump but soon as it gets warm loss of power than quits im thinking fuel pump
Blocked screen or fitting on the bottom of the tank, plugged cap on the tank? have you changed the filter? and was there water or lots of dirt in there?
was water put 911 in it drained tank run fuel threw a screen filter wasnt alot of dirt more like algie
Is there a screen or strainer in the fuel tank fitting? that would be my first guess if you had algae slime. What kind of fuel transfer pump and injection pump does it have on it? Inline or rotary injection pump?
Check the transfer pump, if it is the piston type it may have crud in it and they can be disassembled and cleaned up.
hi thanks for all the help i found the problem there was a screen on the fuel pump that was full of crud cleaned it out and runs great again
Thanks for the update, it's always nice to hear that it was fixed and what the problem really was.
