case backhoe HELLO TO ALL, digging out some stumps, and lost hydraulic power. the shaft that turns the pump has lost the internal splines. it did not damage the splines on the pump. looked for a splined coupling. one place wanted $105.00 for this item. i found one in the surplus center catalog for $7.50. got it in two days with special delivery for$27.44. machined an extension, with a pilot to fit inside the coupling, had machined a weld bevel on both parts. welded them together. it had .004 runout after it cooled. machined the extension,(bored out) to fit the shaft, and welded them together. now workling again. finished the digout of the stumps. wlbrown

case backhoe SIR, yes, i am a retired machinist, and i am old. i do have the machines to do a lot of work, and i am still active. are you in this kind of work? anyone that has the machines, and tooling, and the knowledge, can do a lot to restore old heavy equipment. good luck with your projects. wlbrown
