Just bought a CASE 580F -80 . Could someone please explain the function of the boom lockout system and how to use it? Its not mentioned in my owners manual
I would think it works when you are holding a load, like setting a valve on a water line using the boom to hold the material while a crew is tightening the bolts. A lot of machines have leakage and that valve is a manual shut off, to stop leakage mostly in the valve section/spool/ relief section so it does not creep down either with the engine running or engine off. Once the load is at the place it's needed, you can turn the handle and lock it from further drifting down and having to keep holding back on the lever to hold it at the level you need, backhoe boom only. Now if the packing/piston or cylinder has bypassing going on, it will may still drift down.
