My cx 160 b showed code 0087 today when i went to move it after warming up. It bogs down when under any load. The fuel filters seem fine and no sediment is visible in the filter glass. Plenty of fuel is being pumped through when the key is on and the bleeder is open. Any ideas?
I have a 160X4 that I couldn't start one day. I changed out the filters, had flow. It was the common rail sensor mentioned in the above post. If you follow the fuel line from the filters to the back of the engine next to the counterweight as it goes over top of the engine you will run into it before the pump. It was like $200 for the part. It might be your problem, while not overly easy to get at, its likely the next inexpensive part to check.
Did it throw a code? My dad is having some slight issues with a 160C he bought last spring. No codes, says it will just randomly die.
It did not throw a code, which is what made it difficult in knowing what the issue was. I learned through this that there is a banjo fitting near the sensor, that has a small filter in it. However that is on larger machines, the 160 does not have that, for anyone that may be having a similar issue in a larger Sumitomo.
just had that code on my 2011 link-belt 350x2 replaced both fuelfilters
Hey @KSSS . My dad hauled his 160 to Fargo today to have some things done. He never really did get comfortable this fall with it, the random dying was still there. Today, it wouldn't start on the trailer. They screwed around for 5 hours, finally got it started by pinching off the return lines. Apparently there's a housing on the high pressure fuel pump that handles the return flow, and they're convinced it's faulty. Anyway, they were able to get it started and off the trailer. Now the game is on to figure out what to do.
I would be interested in hearing what they come up with.
