I recently replaced a broken steering cylinder on left side of my 480e 4x4 backhoe with a used one from a salvage yard. The problem is,I have lost some of the range. It will turn twice as sharp to the left as the right , any feed back would greatly be appreciated.
First check the tie rod between the wheels that it's straight, They have two different steering cylinders, one for two wd and one for 4 wd. Measure the cylinder you did not replace from center of the ball joint to center of the rod end ball joint with the rod retracted, then do the same on the one you just received and see what the difference in length is.
