Hello...Its been a while since i posted on my case w24 iam starting to work the loader plowing snow and i have a problem when I use high range to travel faster. It has the allison tt2421 tranny I will describe as best i can whats happening, when i shift to high and apply throttle it has a noticable shimmy it the drive line like the engines running on 5 cylinders a real pronounced jerking like iam pumping the fuel petal then it will seem to engage more smoothly and seem ok,I have changed the fluid with dextron III,changed the filtre thats mounted on the frame and cleaned the sump screen at the bottom of the tranny, there was a small amount of metal shavings at the botton of the case aprox maybe a table spoom full but none in the screen.Any thought on what this could be,It works great in low and reverse but not in high gear. Thanks
It could be your high range clutches slipping. If the clutch pressure light is functional, does it illuminate when you apply the declutch brake pedal? and go out when you let off the pedal?
The pressure light is not working the loader is aprox 1978 model,is there a way to check the clutches without removing the tranny from the machine or any other way to pin point the suspected clutch problem. Thanks
allison tt Here is some info for you, Engine speeds, low idle 700-750 rpm, rated speed 2200 rpm, high idle 2330 -2370. Stall speeds, converter 2100-2000 rpm, hydraulic 2200-2300 rpm, combined 1500-1600. Trans pressures at 1800 engine rpm, main pressure 165-195 psi. Converter out (no load) Max 65 psi. " " (stall) minimum 40 psi Lube pressure 15-30 psi. When testing the trans has to be at a temp of 140- 165 F. You will need to unscrew the temp sending unit on the rh side at the converter once temp is up and install a hose and gauge that you can read in the cab. The gauge needs to read at least 100 psi, this will be your pressure out of the torque converter. The second hose and gauge that you will need to reach the cab needs to be a 300 psi gauge and it screws into the control valve on the rh side of the machine, looking at the outside frame facing the valve, there is three sections, lower is the shifting spool, middle is the clutch cut out ( rt side is the cutout valve with the air line and the left side will either have a plug or switch) this is where the pressure hose gets hooked up. The park brake will need to be working to hold the machine and not drive thru it while testing. Do you have a working tach on your machine? Checked your u-joints and engine/trans mounts, brake drag and tire size and pressure. I will do some looking for a tt book, should have one, been a while since I tested one, for the correct steps. The spec above is for the w24b.
Hello Sheepfoot... I will need a few days to get some pressure gauges and lines and a chance to do the test,I tried the loader today and sometimes it will run in high range and sometimes not If its on a grade thers times it will pull a bit then fall back thats at moderate throttle applied. In your opinion will it cause the tranny more damage if i run it in low and reverse as another big storm is forcast for us in a couple days,I only would use high on the road to travell low seems fast enough to plow with.I will do the gauge test tho asap and possibly attach them permently to the gauges in the cab. Thanks and good to hear from you again.
