Case XT skidsteer engine RPM range

Crystallattice · 2025-05-17 11:57

Does anyone know the engine RPM range on a Case XT skid steer? I'm trying to setup my ex genset 4BT engine that was fixed speed to be variable speed but don't know what the speed range is I'm aiming for.

It depends on what engine it has. The 40XT is 2150 high idle and 2000 rated load (non turbo), the 60XT is 2450 high and 2200 rated load, the 70XT is 2400 high and 2200 rated load, the 75XT is 2450 high and 2200 rated load and the 85XT, 90XT and 95XT are 2650 and 2500 rated load. All high idle speeds are + or - 50 rpm.

4BT engine. 87 HP@1500rpm So none of them seem to "idle" at say 850RPM and then max out at say 2200rpm?? How much range does the throttle give then? The linkage seems to move about 1 1/4"

They idle at 950 and wire open speed from 2150 to 2650.

Ok, makes more sense now, so the previous numbers you quoted is the full throttle no load vs full load RPM My injection pump does not seem to want to idle at a low speed, even with the adjustment screws adjusted all the way down (for the genset it was locket into position with the set screws) it is still high revving with minimal response to change on the throttle linkage. Not sure yet what inside the pump is different to a variable speed one. It's the Stanadyne DB4 pump.

Are u adjusting the low idle with the screw on the top cover or the throttle.??

The screws on either side of the throttle lever that limits the travel. Remember this is an engine swap from a genset and has a different injection pump, looks like the XT had the Bosch inline pump whereas this is a Stanadyne DB4 rotary distributor pump.

The actual low idle screw is on the top cover.. the screw on the throttle is just a stop screw but will interfere with the top cover adjustment.. Back out the screw on the top cover.. if there’s is no change, back out the throttle stop screw..

I'll have another look, but as far as I recall there was no screw on the top cover. You are referring to the Stanadyne DB4 pump right?

Yes.. should take a 5/16 wrench to break the nut loose and either another 5/16 or a 1/4” wrench to adjust the screw.

A gen set usually is set 1800 rpm to make 60 cycles of ac power

Ur probably looking for 2100rpm for your new application..
