Hello guys. I'm changing the shut off solenoid on my 9010b. It's located on the back side of the injection pump between the pump and motor. It appears I have to remove the pump to change this. Does this sound correct or am I over looking something? Also if the pump is removed will it stay in time or is it easily moved if bumped or dropped? Any info is welcomed, thanks guys.
No removal is necessary..grind down the box end of a 15/16 wrench[23/24mm] If you have to pull the pump..BE SURE and lock the drive shaft with the 10mm bolt on the side of the pump. Your going to need a puller to pop the gear from the front of the pump.. WAY EASIER to grind down a wrench.. Those solenoids rarely go bad, so just remove it..take it over to your battery charger and hit it w/12volts to see if its working..BE CAREFUL of the little spring inside!!! If IT IS BAD and you cant get 1 right away, remove the plunger and spring and put it back in and use the "manual" shut-off on the side of the pump.
Is your engine a 4 cyl with an in-line bosch injector pump? like the one shown? If it is, the solenoid will come out from between the pump & engine block. It looks like it won't, but if you wriggle & jiggle it, & hold your tongue the right way, it will slip out the below the pump. PS - sometimes you need to move the engine oil pressure switch / line.
I was thinking it was a bosch VE pump..sorry for the confusion.
