Does that machine have the parking brake between the transmission and the differential? If so there is no adjustment. Someone here will know. Good Luck!

I'm not sure how it works it'is supposed to apply when you put the trans shifter safety on safe, it bleeds off air like a maxi brake on a truck or scraper but doesn't hold the machine. Guess I should get a manual

The park brake on the G-Series is part of the transmission, It is air released, spring applied. When the brake is applied the lever moves the park brake plate to apply the brake. If you are getting full travel on the lever, no mud or debris under the lever, the park brake disc's are worn and will need to be replaced. That will require the transmission being removed and disassembled to replace the disc's / plates OC

Supply Air to the Maxi so it is compressed and remove the Split Pin and Clevis Pin. With your hand push the Lever hanging out the side of the Transmission Case and see if the lever has Tension comes on it before the Lever runs out of travel and hits the Case. This is sort of a Dodgy way of checkinging the Stack height of the Plates and Discs.........

Hey Dan, This is a bad design from the OEM requiring complete removal of the transmission and about 1/3 disassembly before getting to the parking brake. The sad thing is this machine is hard on parking brakes to begin with and out here it better be in working order if Cal Osha shows up on your job site. We do them often at a cost of about $3500 if you don’t do anything more to the rest of the transmission while it’s out. Make sure you check and clean your screens too as there should be disc material that could fool you into thinking you have a transmission clutch failure later on.

Here is the procedure to adjust the park brake from Cat. Similar to what CAT793 also said. Regards, John

One final thought on the brake. Since the brake is applied and released with the trans safety lever it can not be left applied when the machine is in gear so how does it wear? Does the wear happen because it does not fully release?

Yup......Loss of Air Pressure whilst in operation. Also releasing the Brake and driving off before full Released. Incorrect Rod length on the Maxi. Incorrect linkages under the Cab where the Shift Levers are. CAT (And the Dealerships) have several UPGRADES to work around this...........Dump Valves,Idiot Lights and Transmission Nuetralizers that do NOT allow Gear Selection untill 100% Brake Release.
