Cat 22 after 50 years in the barn

Took a little road trip to Bakersfield and picked up my spring purchased Cat 22. It was one of about 10 machines that was in a shed up near the Oregon border. A friend hauled all of them out when they were sold and had room on a load to bring mine to his place in Bakersfield. It was a good trip for the F-550 and a nice test for the new dump trailer. It was so bloody hot that we forgot to take any pictures of driving it up onto the trailer. Here's a couple of it on the road home. In the last picture if you look close you can see the ravens crouched into the shade near the top of the rocks. The rails and weld on sprockets on the F-550 bed are a brand new set for a D2. Not many of them around either. Brought them from Bakersfield for a friend in New York that is restoring a couple. In the last picture, if you look close you can see a couple spots with Ravens trying to huddle into the shade behind the boulders up top.

That's a really nice machine. Not much of a load for the pickup or trailer though huh?

Trailer only grossed at 10,400 when going across the scales. Total weight was just over 20,000. I had planned on going to Phoenix on the way home to look at and possibly pick up a Cat PV15 for the truck bed but it was just to dang hot there. I must have seen 200 truck tire carcasses laying on the freeways this trip.

Looks like a fun trip. Cat and trailer look good together.

Nice machine! Those alligators laying on the road could be prevented with a tire gauge! And not running caps. Truck Shop
