Hey guys, picked up a cat 225LC excavator to move the dirt for a pole barn/shop and have a couple questions. First, how do we know what the correct level is for the swing lube? We found the plug on top of the swing gear box, just behind the boom, but see no dipstick or fill level hole. Next, after filling the hydraulic oil tank, we ran the machine for a bit and found that the oil had leaked all over the turntable. I don't think we over-filled it unless the boom and cylinders have to be in a certain position that we didn't have them in. Machine was almost leak-proof until we filled the tank to the top of the sight glass. Thanks for any help.Steve
I suggest you get an Operation & Maintenance Manual. It will have the answers to all your questions and far more besides. Post the machine Serial Number and I'll give you the procedure to downkoad one from Cat. Cost is less than $50.
Welcome to the world of old leaky machines. You are going to have to pull some sheet metal off the top and have someone watch while the functions are operated slowly so you can find the bleeders.
