Cat 235 track pins

Anyone have a good way of installing new track pins without a press? Or is that the only way? We have an older CAT 235 (85,000 lb machine) and have a couple bad links... cut the old 2 out and ordered new but now how to put them back in. Will dry ice work to shrink the pin enough to sledge it in? Or does anyone know of a press around SE South Dakota anywhere to rent for a weekend? Just looking for options. Thanks guys. Chris

Did you get master pins for replacing, or just standard track pins? Master pins are necked down a few thou in the middle so you don't have to drive them the full length, just the ends are tight. But yeah, dry ice, warm the links a bit and push or drive them in. Start by pressing a pin into the pin end of one of the links you're replacing which you can do in a shop press, gives you a head start, just my way of thinking. I never heard of anybody renting out a pin press, too much liability. We used to call the Deere or Komatsu dealer out, the travel time was the kicker though.
