Im attempting to change the hydraulic oil and filter on my CAT 249D. The drain plug is at the back of the tank under the machine, 3/4 in allen head. I cannot for the life of me get it loose, 36 in breaker bar, smacked it many times with a four pounder, and applied gentle heat with a heat gun? Any suggestions here? More heat??
Steady draw with long pipe on tool. They can be a bugger.
Heymccall, I've been doing that for a bit. Even put my 1/2 milwaukee impact on it, no dice.... frustrated
Try a (much) longer pipe than 36" (6-8ft maybe) with a good steady pull on it as HMC suggested..?
Impact usually won't touch it. Long tool, steady draw. If you have the house swung so it's strikable, steady pull with a hammer beating upward on the socket.
