I have a 2014 EFTL06792 with a RH joystick with 2 buttons (only) on left side of joystick. It wont operate grapple (no engine speed change/nothing). I also have a 2016 TFTL02180 with a thumbwheel (only) on the RH joystick which operates the grapple correctly. On the 2014 I have 8vdc coming in on the yellow and white wires to the 12 pin connector & the buttons have continuity in mashed and unmashed condition (don't remember which now). Just my thinking, but it seems the thumbwheel would give a variable voltage/duty cycle whereas the BUTTONS WOULD ONLY BE ON OR OFF. Is it even possible for buttons to operate a grapple bucket, has anyone a grapple bucket being controlled by 2 buttons ?????? PLEASE REPLY................. ANOTHER SIDE TO THE STORY IS, i have taken the joystick off the 2016 (thumbwheel) and put it on the 2014 (buttons), connected the same 12 pin connector back up, same response, nothing. I had a young man come plug into the ecm with his laptop, he said aux hyd was turned off, he turned it on, no effect. We raised cab and he looked around a little, said he would come back later, look some more.. So NOW i have 2 questions......will 2 buttons run a grapple AND why wouldn't 2016 model joystick run it ????
Those Serial Numbers look to be backwards compared to the manufacturing dates. FTL02180 DOM is July 2014, FTL06792 DOM is actually November 2015. Do you have the data backwards.? He may have been labouring under a misapprehension. I think the parameter he was looking at was "Auxiliary Hydraulic High Flow System Installation Status". This parameter can only be activated if a particular machine is actually equipped with the mechanical parts of an HF AUX system. So for your two Serial Numbers FTL02180 as originally built is equipped with High Flow, FTL06792 is not. Did your young man happen to look to see whether there were any Active Diagnostic Codes, or download Product Status Reports, while he had ET hooked up to the two machines.? I'm assuming he was using Cat ET.
yes, you are right , i have the serial numbers reversed...so it it the FTL06792 that is the 2 button machine. He connected his laptop up to this machine only, since it was the one the grapple wouldn't work on. He did say it was showing low voltage for a ? 'system', .... he didn't seem overly concerned about it. When he comes next, we will look into 'low voltage on a ?system He's looking at this in his spare time.....hasn't been here for 4 days......i sent this inquiry out just to know if it was possible for a 2 button joystick to operate a grapple, maybe I should be buying a different joystick in his absence ??
He should have been. That would have been a Diagnostic Code (or Codes) where the voltage was below normal on the signal wire. Note this is nothing to do with electrical system voltage, neither is it anything to do with the sensor supply voltage. If you can get him back, give him this shopping list. Again I'm assuming he is using Cat ET diagnostic software: 1. Download Product Status Reports in pdf format for both machines. 2. Check for the presence of Active Diagnostic Codes on both machines but especially FTL06792. Thinking about it there may be a way of you accessing Diagnostic Codes without requiring his computer. Do you have a panel that looks like the image below in either of your machines.?
I would suggest to hold off right now until we get properly into the diagnostics. I think there may be a component/electronics issue on FTL06792.
In 2 days it will be Monday, maybe he'll come after work then............I will get him to download pdfs and i'll record active codes...... both machines have screens like picture you sent. Nige.......whatever 'they' are paying you, i don't think it's enough.....you spend a lot of time helping everybody.................we all say THANK YOU
If you like you can access Diagnostic Codes and Events right now via that panel without waiting for him to come round........ See the attachment. Please read the instructions carefully and make a list of what you find in "Service Mode 0" (Active Diagnostic Codes) for right now. Don't worry about the rest of the modes.
Ohhh......i didn't look at your pic very well, my screens only have the fuel gauge.....i will get back with you later, a neighbor was killed in a car wreck a little while ago., i'm seeing if i can help...........i'll get back after young man comes to get codes and pdfs,,,,,,thanks
In that case you can't access Codes with that panel. It is the basic panel, the only one of three options that does not permit access to Codes. Seeing as your panels only have the fuel gauge ET is the only option.
ok, thanks
