we have a hydraulic problem with our 262b skid steer. after some time of operation between five minutes and an hour it will blow up some part of the hydraulic system. so far we have been through four hoses and an oil cooler. we took it to cat the last time. they put the hose back on (which we could have done). they drove it around the yard for two minutes (which we could have done). they then told us it was good to go (which we could have done). it wasn't a half hour later and it blew a hose again. any one have any suggestions? is there anywhere that we could get a schematic of the hydraulic system for this machine?
If the hoses that are failing are all related to the cooler check to make sure they are not being kinked or pinched when the cooling package is being shut. You may have to adjust them if this is the case. Just a suggestion. If this is not the case can you be more specific on which hoses and a more detailed explanation of the problem, anything you can tell us?
we think the line that broke/blew is the return line from the pump to the tank. the hose is under the cab and we have to lift the cab to get to the hose.
if i could get my hands on a schematic of the hydraulic system it would help a great deal.
Wish I could help you with a schematic but I don't have one. I do know that if the cooler lines are kinked it will directly affect the hydro return line. Might be worth a closer look.
You should go to your Cat dealer and talk to service dept. They should be able to provide you with hyd as well as electric schematic for your machine.
we bought two 262b skid steers out of state for $40k total. they each had 300 hours on them. i think we are getting the big brush off from the service department because we didn't buy the machines from them.
Wow, that really sucks!
the brush off i hope not the price!
That would be the brush off. Doesn't make sense they wouldn't help you. So what if you didn't buy the machines from them. Not a huge profit selling machines in this economy, they money is in the parts, and Cat is territorial, that dealer knows you can only get your parts from them. Don't make sense. :beatsme
pm me your email and I'll shoot you a pdf
Click on my screen name and you'll find my contact info.
I sent the hyd and elec to both of you. It was a big file.
I'll keep an eye out for them. If they're to big to go through, might have to use my Gmail account.
They came through fine, thanks. I'll be looking them over.
Is there anyway you can tell us exactly which line is busting? Failed oil cooler really bugs me, it's pretty much connected direct to return to tank via drain manifold. Hmm.
If you need anymore for cat equipment, let me know and i can send them. :usa
hydraulic schematics If it doesn't put you out any please forward me a file of this skidsteer. Email address is with my screen name. Thanks, Tom
Much appreciated. :notworthy And, will keep that in mind. That was much easier than trying to get info from local Cat store.
If old cooler ruptured from over pressure it definitely sounds like obstruction downstream of cooler? Don't remember if cooler has a bypass but regardless, if outlet hose of cooler is obstructed then it would never go into bypass anyways. Now if new cooler remains intact but hoses fail upstream of cooler then certainly the failures being seen are the weakest links in the system. Questions: 1. Do you notice the failures happening more when oil is cold (close to initial startup = increased lack of flow through cooler because of restricted return path?) 2. Does machine seem to be operating hot when it does operate? (lack of return flow through cooler because of restricted return path = not being cooled properly?) 3. Can you tee in a pressure gage before and after the cooler?
Sounds like the same issues Ive seen with CAT dealers. What did they have to say when they didnt fix the problem? Ive worked on skid-steers for a while and havent seen that issue.Definately interested to hear what you find.
Over the years I have seen this type of service with almost every kind of equipment. They have service techs that know what their doing but they are doing the big jobs for the big money. General services and minor issues are addressed by the "parts changers". I currently do contract work for a local dealer at twice what they pay their full time guys but I only due a few hundred hours a year most years. I see the result of poor service all the time.
Hey can you shoot me a copy of the 262b hyd pump schematic please? trying to put this pump back together.
