I have a Cat 262C, Cat's first generation Electric pilot controls. The machine tracks to the left when running straight down the road, maybe a couple feet in a hundred feet. Is this something that has to be recalibrated in the electronics, or is there a mechanical or hydraulic adjustment? The D model track loaders have speed sensors on the final drives, and the computer keeps things running straight on its own, but I don't believe (?) the C models are set up that way
A couple of feet in 100 is good! Cat will allow 10 in 100 before it's considered a problem. Have you checked tyre pressure? Assuming you have an MST prefixed machine, you have a speed sensor on each drive motor. AFAIK the sensors themselves don't play a role in any "corrective" feedback to keep the machine tracking straight, they are just there to identify problems (ie uncommanded machine movement, etc). D series with Advanced Displays have the ability to make minor adjustments to tracking at the press of a button (at least the CTL/ATL machines I've played with do). C series can be done by raising machine, connecting ET and carrying out a pump and motor solenoid calibration.
